Hickstead is also home to one of the oldest and most prestigious horse shows in the world, the Royal International. There is not only International show jumping at the highest level but this is also the Championship show for many show classes that have worked hard to qualify throughout the preceding winter. Another attraction is the Eventing Grand Prix Challenge, a competition which brings together top names from both Show Jumping and Eventing to contest both cross-country fences and show jumps. Eventers have usually won this title but not always!
Hickstead is well placed for both London (about an hours' drive north) and the city of Brighton on the south coast. If you are an Opera buff, this is a fantastic opportunity to visit the world famous Glyndebourne Opera House just a short journey away. The opera season runs from May until late August and we can arrange a sumptuous Champagne picnic for you to enjoy in the traditional picnic interval.
