United States of America

The sheer size and energy of this amazing country cannot but impress and this permeates throughout an extraordinary diversity in horse events and shows to suit every interest. From racing to rodeo, America knows how to put on a show to thrill the most seasoned spectator!

Spring and early summer are packed with major events of every sort. In racing, the famous Kentucky Derby kicks off the first leg of America's Triple Crown for horseracing on the first Saturday in May. A week earlier, America holds its premier four star three-day event, ‘The Rolex' also in Kentucky. ‘Cutting' is a Western discipline that involves a horse and rider separating (cutting) out a calf from the herd. Once achieved, the horse uses its ‘cow sense' to prevent the calf returning to the herd with as little influence from the rider as possible. Developed in the early settler days from working cattle on ranches out west, this discipline is amazing to watch and the Eastern National Championships takes place in Jackson, Mississippi during the first week of April.

Beyond the Spring and Summer events, there is the Breeders' Cup Championship in horseracing held in late October and a whole season of horse shows on the Florida circuit during the winter months.

America is a vast country of large bustling cities contrasting with big wide open spaces and some of the most dramatic and beautiful terrain imaginable. The opportunities to see some of this amazing country are endless and we would encourage you to take full advantage. We can tailor your trip to include a major city like New York, the Nation's Capitol Washington D.C. or Los Angeles on the West Coast. These are just three examples but there are a many more to consider. See one of America's beautiful national parks or why not ride western-style across the plains of a Texas ranch. It is all there - let us help you find it!
