Worldwide

With some 50 million horses and ponies spread accross the world, there are no end of possibilities for travel and being amongst horses! Every type of equine activity can be found but probably most universal across the world's five continents is the sport of kings - horse racing. Major race meets take place in many countries, the most significant include the United Kingdom and Ireland, the United States, France, Dubai, Japan, Hong Kong and Australia. However, many other countries have their own major racing occasions and have a long tradition of the sport. Canada, South Africa, Italy, the Czech Republic, Turkey and India are some examples. Then there are emerging markets that have long raced horses but racing is now developing at a much faster pace. These include the South American continent, the African continent and Russia. Watch China - they will be the next big players in horseracing!

Other world equestrian sports include of course Show Jumping, Polo, Dressage, Endurance and a growing number of nations that stage three-day eventing beyond the traditional ones found in Europe, America and Australasia. Many new equine sports have also joined the ranks of the traditional ones, those such as Horse Ball, Arena Polo, Polo Crosse and even snow polo!
